Ζούσε επί 10 χρόνια με ένα πιρούνι στο στομάχι του

Ένα πλαστικό πιρούνι, μήκους 22,5 εκατοστών, είχε στο στομάχι του για δέκα ολόκληρα χρόνια ο Λι Γκάρντνερ, ο οποίος υπεβλήθη σε χειρουργική επέμβαση για την αφαίρεσή του.
 Ο 40χρονος Γκάρντνερ διακομίστηκε στο νοσοκομείο με αιμόπτυση και τρομακτικούς πόνους στην κοιλιά. Όπως είπε ο Γκάρντνερ στους γιατρούς, είχε καταπιεί πριν από 10 χρόνια το πιρούνι, αλλά νόμιζε ότι είχε...

 αποβληθεί από μόνο του από το πεπτικό του σύστημα, οπότε δεν είχε ξανασχοληθεί με το θέμα. Ο δρ Χάνις Σαϊγουάνι από το Νοσοκομείο Barnsley, που χειρούργησε τον κ. Γκάρντνερ, δήλωσε στον βρετανικό Τύπο ότι ο ασθενής του είναι πολύ τυχερός που δεν έπαθε τίποτα χειρότερο.
 Ο κ. Γκάρντνερ εξήγησε στους γιατρούς ότι έπαιζε με το πιρούνι και... κατά λάθος το κατάπιε, αλλά ουδέποτε κατά το παρελθόν τού είχε δημιουργήσει πρόβλημα - με εξαίρεση μία φορά πριν από μία διετία, που για λίγο καιρό ένιωθε κάτι να πιέζει το στομάχι του, όταν έσκυβε.
